Erin Frawley (Eireanne-Marie) is a singer and pianist born in Belfast, County Antrim, Ireland and raised in Boston, Massachusetts, USA. She specializes in jazz, soul, and pop classics, bringing her clear yet smoky tone to the forefront of every tune.

Musical Background edit

Growing up as a part of a musical family, Frawley was exposed to a diverse range of genres; however, nothing has truly spoken to her just in the way that jazz did. Her parents were exceptional record collectors who prized every record, each one representing a snippet of their lives never to be forgotten. Their greatest pride was in their jazz collection, which was filled with original pressings of various songs and live recordings of the jazz greats. Eventually, Frawley inherited this knack for collecting vinyl, and has accumulated an impressive collection over the years.

Starting her on piano lessons at the age of five, Frawley's parents thought it simply would be an enriching extracurricular activity. Ultimately, however, the piano became the foundation upon which Frawley has started to build her career and life. Yet the real turning point in her musical journey was when her ears were introduced to swing. As a young piano student, Frawley immediately took to swinging everything, without being told what it was or how to do it; she accidentally started to swing every piece her teacher gave her to practice. As soon as he realized she found her passion in this one rhythmic aspect of music, her teacher immediately turned to jazz piano pieces to keep her interested.

By her early teens, she had conquered The Real Book learning to play from jazz piano charts and read transcribed solos; she even started to explore self-accompaniment and then joined a jazz quartet with her music teacher, performing at various well-known venues. Jazz had finally become an intertwined part of her life.

Proposed topics edit

My proposed topics to research are:

  1. Music therapy in the military and those suffering from PTSD and TBI.
  2. International music therapy and the role of AMTA (American Music Therapy Association) and Musicians for World Harmony in international music therapy.

Final topic edit

I plan to add a section titled Music therapy in the military to the already existing Music therapy page. I will explore the history of music therapy in the military, methods, and some current programs.
