SCE Shamoon College of Engineering

SCE, the Shamoon College of Engineering, founded in 1995, is the largest academic engineering college in Israel with a student body of over 5,500 and choice of six departments: Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Software Engineering, Civil Engineering, Chemical Engineering, and Industrial Engineering and Management. The College offers programs leading to Bachelor and Master degrees. SCE president is Prof. Jehuda Hadad.

SCE was founded in Beer-Sheva as part of the national program to expand access to higher education among the Israeli youth of the periphery. The college was established by faculty members of "Beer-Sheva Technological College" ,and initially was named "Negev Academic College of Engineering (NACE)". In 2002, the Council for Higher Education, authorized the opening of an additional campus in the city of Ashdod, and thus SCE became the first Israeli college to operate in two campuses in the country. In 2006, the college changed its name to "SCE Shamoon College of Engineering", thanks to a major donation given by Sammy Shamoon, a businessman and a philanthropist.

The college has grown rapidly in terms of number of students and academically developed thanks to a wide research activities and international cooperation of its faculty members and to the innovative learning methods and construction of advanced laboratories. Alongside the development of the academic aspect, the College fosters ties with the industry and aspires to promote the local community of the southern region.
