'Michael Miller Pilates' is a brand of Pilates that points to an ideal within the original work of Joseph Pilates.

The view is founded on three things from the book by Joseph Pilates called, "Return to Life Through Contrology:"[1]

His Definition: "Contrology is complete coordination of body, mind and spirit."[1]: 98

His Promise: "Contrology develops the body uniformly..."[1]: 98

His Sequence: of exercises[1]: 93

The View

edit

In Michael Miller Pilates, Contrology is a state of being in the body in the moment of the doing. To achieve that state of being requires that you listen to what you sense and use your mind to increase your control. Listening is the "spirit", in "body, mind and spirit." Spirit is the listener, the observer. Whereas spiritual is the interpretation of your experience, spirit is the awareness of your experience. The listener is not the thinker. The listener is the observer as in quantum physics[2] . “The observer must not be ignored...it is the consciousness that is driving the vehicle."[2]: 16:55 – 18:33

Key Discernment

edit

"It makes a key discernment upon where what is being taught is coming from-aristocratic heritage or ideological insight."[3]
