Making women in science more visible?

Come to the Wikipedia edit-a-thon at the ETH library on Saturday, June 3, 2023. Together we will write and illustrate biographical Wikipedia articles about female professors at ETH.

Those who have never written a Wikipedia article and would like to learn how to are also invited to join!

Program

10 am: Welcome and division into two groups: Introduction for Wikipedia newbies and getting started for experienced individuals, respectively.

5 p.m.: End (leaving early is possible)

Directions: ETH main building at Rämistrasse 101, floor H, reading room Collections and Archives.

Bring along: Notebook and lunch (coffee will be offered, cafeterias and coffee bar are closed).

Other women at ETH Zurich

A good place to start is our Blog ETHeritage (in German). There we have published a whole series of posts on women at ETH. They are mostly tagged "gender studies". Some additional names can be found in the [1] and on the website on women at ETH. Whether a biographical dossier also exists for the women can be clarified in the next step.

Biographical dossiers can be digitised on request

Biographical dossiers containing newspaper articles were kept in the ETH Zurich university archives until 2018. We can provide these directly for the writing workshop. There is no need to order in advance. Search for persons, plus the following filter settings: Limit search by: search range/select: DOK/Hochschulgeschichtliche Dokumentationen/Biogr, Biographica.
