My name is Doug and I am currently a junior at Bucknell University. I am pursuing a degree in chemistry and I am also planning on applying to medical school upon graduation. Nature has always fascinated me in terms of its diversity, complexity, and most of all the sense of unity and harmony it exhibits. It is this interest that motivated me want to learn more about nature through my chemistry, biology, and ecological studies. I am excited to be able to contribute and give something back to the wealth of knowledge that is Wikipedia, as it is something I use almost daily.

Articles for Consideration edit

1. The Adirondack Park - Similar to the reasons for the first article, the nature found in the Adirondacks has always interested me and I would really enjoy studying the ecological history of the Adirondacks. Specifically I would like to learn more about the impact humans have had on the ecological systems and also the reintroduction of extinct species since we first began exploring the Adirondacks. This article is important as the Adirondack Park encompasses over 6,000,000 acres, which could fit Yellowstone, Yosemite, The Grand Canyon, Glacier National Park (U.S.), and The Great Smoky Mountains combined.

2. The Adirondack Mountains - I want to work on this article as I have been going to the Adirondacks with my family my whole life. I have always been fascinated with the diversity of organisms and animals living in and around the lake, as well as throughout the Adirondack Park and would love to study and help add to the history of ecology of the Adirondacks. This article is important to Wikipedia as the the Adirondack Mountains are often overshadowed in the media by other mountain ranges and provide a vital sanctuary for many species, most notably over 170 different species of birds.
