Overview

Run 8 Train Simulator is a multiplayer train simulator that allows users to realistically simulate the operation of trains and the railroads which they run upon. The Run8 experience relies heavily on the usage of physics to prototypically portray the operation of the trains across the game world. Train routes are modeled after their prototypical counterparts.

Run 8 Version 1

Run 8 Version 1 was released on August 23, 2012 with the base routes of the Union Pacific Mojave Sub Division from Bakersfield, CA to Mojave, CA. Also in the initial release was The BNSF Mojave sub which connects Mojave, CA to BNSF's southern trans-con. The Barstow yard area was included in this release as well featuring Departure, Receiving and Inspection Yards. Version 1 was multiplayer compatible out of the box with a handful of rolling stock and motive power. Version 1 had a series of update patches released throughout its lifespan which fixed bugs and introduced new features as well as several DLC addons for both rolling stock and routes [3].

Run 8 Version 2

Run 8 Version 2 was released on November 6, 2016 with a variety of new features notably AI trains, clouds and weather, as well as a robust industry configure

Run 8 Version 3

Run8 Version 3 was released on January 25, 2022 with many new features, namely AI dispatching, enhanced weather, enhanced sounds with FMOD, better physics, and AI humping in the classification yards. Run8 also shipped with the newest locomotive to the simulator the GE C44-9W[4]
