I'm disappointed that you think that I said or implied I was the main editor. I didn't do that, although if I did do that, there would be nothing wrong cause it's true. On the other side, I've always been open about you being a major factor in the article's progress, and have always acknowledged your help and dedication (see my userpage, see the FAC). After the first FAC, I was enormously impressed to see you fighting so much for this article, and I was particularly excited because I knew you were doing that for me, because I was your friend. I turn to you because I appreciate your intelligence, your writing skills and your opinions about anything. Since the GA reassessment, I've never asked you to come and copyedit it, because you yourself decided not to be involved. I've been giving you my drafts and asking for your personal opinion. I think you should feel complimented that someone appreciates your views. As I said, both Blofeld, Dwai and John (in order of involvement) have helped me in different stages of the article in terms of writing and copyediting, and unconditional support. I know that I'm quite a perfectionist and I pay attention to the most small details and not once were you irritated because of this, but it's me, and my argumentative and loud nature is the reason this article is a FA today. I fought for everything I found right and against everything I found wrong (I'm sure you can name quite a few such cases right now), and if I didn't stood on what I believed, it wouldn't have turned the way it did.

As for the new additions, the article cannot remain the way it was oviously, it needs to be comprehensive, complete and must be updated from time to time for this very reason, so it's not that I want to change the article, it just must be updated. Shahid • ^Talk2me 15:49, 2 May 2009 (UTC)

Obviously, but in anyway it should be well-written and unique. In a few days from now I want to do what I have to with the article and then start working on another article. It's just that so many articles upset me. Look at Nargis, Meena Kumari, Urmila Matondkar, Manisha Koirala, Hema Malini, Konkona Sen Sharma, [[Raveena Tandon] (also Shilpa Shetty and Rani Mukerji back in time...). I've taken first steps in writing the leads for them, but I'm far too concerned about the content of some of them, and there's so much to do and on all of them and I dunno where to start. Look at Nargis... what a brief section, an all-time Mother India (have you finally seen the film?). Look at Meena Kumari, do you think it's enough for someone with such an amazing career and such a tragic life? Hema Malini, the most successful. And Rekha, me all-time favourite?

And how to start Shabana Azmi and Nutan? Shabana is a kind of an Indian Meryl Streep, so accomplished. And Nutanji is like Katherine Hepburn.

Great source I just found

Have you used the Encyclopedia of Mexican municipalities? It's pretty damn amazing. Mexico has 31 states, with tons of municipalities in each (Veracruz e.g. has 200). There aren't direct links to the municipality pages because of the damn frames they use, but navigate down to see how detailed the pages are. It's incredible! I could do info boxes, but most of the unincorporated places in the US lack them and that seems to be the style, so I went with conformity. Also, WP isn't limited to what's on the web about sourcing; after all, most of the history of the gold rush and its communities on the web doesn't rise to the level of reliable sources, it's local tourist info, blogs, conjecture, myth presented as fact, and such. To sort wheat from chaff is more trouble than it's worth. There are some good sources, but they are books, and I have been using the ones I have access to. Anyone with greater access is free to expand any article, I don't WP:OWN them, and it's better to have stubs than not have them - at least basic data is then available from reliable sources on which to build. That may be preferable, but it seems that there is this immense anti-foreign places bias here. Faraway places with strange sounding names seems to get people up in arms regardless or how well documented the place is - and of course, there are the group of critics that don't trust foreign (especially foreign-language) sources at all. So, I have wiled away doing Gold Rush places in California, and the current unincorporated places - they are in the same sources usually so it's easiest to tackle them together. I too have a touch of the utopian - otherwise, why bother here? Some of the places I added are former Native American settlements; they are mentioned at the USGS and the USGS references Bureau of Indian Affairs reports to which I don't have access but no doubt do exists somewhere. If all they say is that the place existed so be it, but it may be more by way of how the village operated when the BIA showed up (usually in the late 1800's or ealy 1900's), what tribe it belonged to, what was the basis of the economy, what missionaries and teachers were fervently Westernizing the folks, perhaps more? It's like a lot of the Ethnologue's good articles about world languages (esp. in Amazonia and Papua-New Guinea), good one-liners that may eventually get expanded but maybe not, and various authorities' articles about various newly-described species. Perhaps we should focus on more permanent items (in which I have made a small foray) see EX Hydrae and W Cephei - both of which may be around for a few more million years so that the articles may be expanded. With some effort, I have added some color to Diamondville, California. Not optimal, but more than one sentence. There seem to be lots of books on gold rush mining camps (probably focused on gold, brothels, hanging trees, and "draw, pardner", but nonetheless extant), which appear to be in print (and hence, not fully available at Google). Dredge, California I concede will be more difficult (in part due to the noise to signal ratio in searches as "dredge" was a common mining technique bringing up lots of hits which are of no value). John Wollaston

Wow, that was quick - thanks for the nomination! (Though I was about to do it myself, actually...great minds, and all. :-) ) Though honestly, I'm surprised we've gone this long without an article about Wollaston; he's probably about the most important American colonial portraitist whose name has come down to us. Speaking of which...I can't believe there isn't an article on John Hesselius, either. Well...the thing is, a lot of portraitists from that era are unknown, for one reason or another. At least in the US. Wollaston is unusual in that a.) we know his name, and b.) he was remarkably prolific. And c.) he covered a wide range - most of his contemporaries stuck to one town or another for the bulk of their careers. Hesselius was the son of another guy (and thanks to this conversation I actually popped 'round to have a look at the father's page, and corrected some long-standing vandalism.) Can I make a suggestion - please consider creating those articles on Dutch films in your userspace and move them into article space when they are at least at stub status. - Currently they are probably deleteable for lacking context and having blank/boilerplate sections. No they aren't. The content exists on Dutch wikipedia and once I have finished them I wil be working through ensuring they are all adequate stubs. They are filtered for notability and basically this is real content which is missing. If I don't start them this way then it gives me nothing to work towards. Just give me a week or two. I'm not suggesting you don't start them this way, merely that you create them in your userspace FIRST (for instance at User:Dr._Blofeld/No Trains No Plains) then once they are at least reasonable stubs they can be moved into mainspace (No Trains No Plains in this instance.) Template:Infobox Surfer

I'm having some problems with this template. See for example, Andy Irons. The name box at the top isn't standard format, the width is off, and images are displayed larger than their normal resolution. Diembéring CR

Hi Dr. Blofeld,

I'm looking to translate , but I'm not sure what title format to use. The Diembéring article is about the eponymous city rather than the rural community. So far, none the articles about rural communities in Senegal have conflicting titles with other articles, so the decision about how to distiguish them hasn't come up yet. Whatever is decided, it should be consistently employed. We could go with the solution on the French Wikipedia (adding CR at the end), we could put "rural community" in brackets, or we could use some other disambiguator. Any thoughts?

Thanks. I'm hoping to make a start on the 60s later in the week (probably towards the weekend). I'm also a great fan of 60s TV and am looking forward to it. Avengers image

I wouldn't count on that calendar cover being kept very long on the Avengers article. Wikipedia's image use rules (which have become so draconian I rarely contribute to the project anymore) pretty much forbid that sort of image. What you said about me is exactly what I think about you. According to you I offend those who "try to edit the Bollywood related articles"? Just now I get that you think I'm actually screwing everybody's good efforts? The truth is that I've always tried to help new editors and fought only those who had terrible POV they wanted to implement on WP. So obviously if someone tries to restore a stupid Bollywood and plagiarism page or wants to make a Queen of Bollywood page or say that Sridevi is the best actress ever and Aamir and Shahrukh are the gretest, or a Sarvagnya will blank half pages of those we've all worked hard on, I won't appreciate them and often get angry and argumentative ... But I don't fight those who disagree with me; I've had fantastic collaborations with editors of wildly disparate views. I fight injustice and anything that's against the way this site works.

I have examples of you being extremely impolite to certain editors in the near past. It doesn't matter though. And don't give half quotes. The quotes are "I'm busy Shahid can't you see????" (if you'd said you're busy, that would've been fine by me. Everyone has his own problems), or "could you please STOP... It's the last time I help you out", or maybe "yawn yawn" is better? I hope you're not yawning now when you're reading this message. That was a terrible thing to see frankly.

And after you came up with what you said, I told you that you were funny, and I really found that funny because your angriness comes all of a sudden and I can't but laugh. And I said that despite your talking manner I like you. I was sincere when I said that. I did not make fun of you. That was the most calm and positive reaction of mine to someone who just shouted at me. You obviously misinterpreted it. And then I wrote you that I was kidding and thanked you for everything (reread the message) and that your behaviour was childish cause you misunderstood and I clarified that I was kidding. Belgium–Ukraine relations

I am impressed with your recent work on this article since I cast my initial opinion to delete it. Unlike many other similar types of articles that have been created as stubs and then abandoned, you have made a worthy article of this one. By comparison, List of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers episodes actually needs much less work to bring it up to par amongst articles of a similar type. From what I understand here it seems that we may have to agree to disagree about what Wikipedia means to us. I understand entirely the desire to make the best possible articles on science, the humanities, and culture for the very reason that we do call ourselves an "encyclopedia". Indeed, it could be seen as Wikipedia's raison d'etre. However, I see no reason why these articles cannot co-exist with articles on popular culture subjects. The fact that Wikipedia is open to articles on subjects not found in your typical paper encyclopedia is, to me, a strength based on its open editorship and web based nature. Again, I applaud your efforts on Belgium–Ukraine relations and wish that time to research and my areas of expertise gave me the chance to improve more articles on topics with real-world implications than I have contributed to in the past. I do what I can where I can, in which areas I can, so I think we should both do what we do best. Wikipedia as a whole will be the better for it. Regards, BlueSquadronRaven 20:26, 9 May 2009 (UTC)

Unfortunately there isn't much about his personal life. 95% of what you see on the net is related with Zinta. Even sources which give info about him present him as her boyfriend. Click on his google images, most of them are with Zinta. The only sites which present him individually, are the Wadia Group and the Bombey Dyeing, which don't talk about his personal life but his work. There's not much we can add about his relationship with Zinta cause it'll sound like gossip. After all, every gossip and media speculation is because of Zinta (he is notable definitely, but he was not known at all, and became famous thanks to her). What needed to be added is there now, and it's good now.

Howdy Bald One and Gidday Shahid (I really enjoy your Indian articles). You folks need to get prosesize.js installed in your monobook files. This is an absolute minimum script if you're going to do any serial DYK nominating or reviewing. DYK has piles of rules on what counts as prose in an article (nothing except paragraphs of text basically, not even the headings) and what doesn't (which is nearly everything else). Rather than keeping up with all this crap, you can just hit the new page size button in your toolbox on the left and get an instant prose count. DYKcheck is an even better tool (it checks a myriad of other weird stuff in the DYK rules as well and can automatically calculate 5X expansions itself). Check [[2]] and here [[3]] for both. Ah, you've listed them yourself already you great Nonce :) I took a short break from districts - needed a change. I've finished Banteay Meanchey, Kampong Cham, Pursat and Kampong Chhnang so far. Not a bad effort, I reckon. One of them actually got 8.6k hits in a few hours on the front page. I've started Kampong Speu with Basedth District which ran at DYK last week. Hi friend!

How are you going? I am getting very excited - we just have to finish off some details for the cover of my book (hopefully this week) and then I can upload all my files to the publishers (who, if they don't find too much wrong with it say that it should be available on Amazon.com and other sources within a few weeks). I can hardly wait!!!!

I am also feeling much better - with far less pain - since my GP put me on a new drug a few days ago which selectively blocks pain from the Central Nervous System - including the spine. I just have to be careful not to get too excited and overdo things as my spine is indeed very fragile (which is why the butchers are leery of operating on it). Anyway, one only has to take 2 pills a day (every 12 hours) rather than every 3 hours or so for codeine - so I have actually slept right through the last 3 nights without waking - something I haven't been able to enjoy for several years - what a great feeling!

I am giving it a month's trial and then will decide whether to continue with it - it is expensive as it is not yet on our Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme (where the maximum one pays for a prescription is $5.30) - and I am watching out for possible side effects - but, so far, it looks like it will be really worthwhile - though these are early days yet and I shouldn't be counting my chickens. However, I have been beginning to dip back into Wikipedia articles a bit more frequently again - lack of pain certainly helps in this regard. :^))

Just thought I would bring you up to date on what was happening with me. Do write and let me know what you are up to when you have a spare moment sometime.

Now, about my book - I was going to try to give you a brief description - but I have never been very good at brief summaries, so I have decided to give you the blurb which I have written for the back cover which should give you a fair picture of what it is all about. THROUGH THE JADE GATE TO ROME

This first English translation of the ‘Chronicle on the Western Regions’ from the Hou Hanshu presents an intriguing picture of a little-known period of history ‒ the origins of the Silk Road. The work is based on information collected from Chinese merchants, explorers and spies. It was presented to the Chinese Emperor around 125 CE by Ban Yong, then Senior General in the Western Regions.

The Chronicle contains the earliest geographical, historical, political and cultural information in Chinese on the Roman Empire, Egypt, India, Parthia, and many other kingdoms, as well as their products, and the routes between them. Along these trade routes an exchange of philosophies, goods and technologies developed on a scale that would not be seen again for 1400 years.

The text itself deserves to be better known. The translated text, faced with the original Chinese, is amply annotated. Included are 20 appendices and two maps showing the main centres and routes. This treasure house of remarkable facts and speculations should appeal to both scholars and the curious.

The translator and author, John Hill, an independent scholar, has been fascinated by the exchange of peoples, cultures, religions and trade between Asia, Europe and Africa since his youth. He has travelled extensively in Asia since 1973 exploring archaeological sites, museums and routes.

He began work on this book in 1979 while living in India and has continued gathering information, communicating with historians and other specialists around the world ever since. Their generous contributions have helped make this book an authoritative and useful historical source.

John now lives in tropical far north Queensland, Australia, 300 km from the nearest traffic lights."

Arriving at formal consensus is a lot harder than you seem to be implying. Believe me, one of the ArbComs I'm in now is about a matter which hasn't had a real consensus yet in the history of wikipedia. But you might cite the guidelines at Wikipedia:WikiProject International relations#Bilateral relations regarding the criteria for notability. The studying is coming all right... Now I just have one 20- to 25-page paper for Friday, and a Spanish final (but that doesn't really count does it?) the following Wednesday. I can't believe I'm so close to done with law school... As for the photo, I don't think it has much of a chance at FP. The main problem is it has relatively low EV. It's being used in Fiskardo but it doesn't give a good idea of what the city looks like. A normal shot during the day would probably do better.
