beBee is a social network founded by serial-entrepreneurs Javier Cámara Rica and Juan Imaz in February of 2015. The site was born to fill a gap in social networks, allowing people to connect based on affinity[2] uniting their personal and professional lives in one unique place. Founders call this concept affinity networking[3].

This European social media stratup[4] was established in February 2015, and it launched its English, Spanish and Portuguese versions. beBee has more than 11 million users and is aiming towards having 40 million users by 2018[5].

In May 2016 beBee has been listed as one of the possible Unicorn startups[6], due to its potential to become a technological giant. Other examples of startups that were considered unicorns are like Uber, Spotify or AirBnb.

General Vision

edit

beBee has a job offers section. Each user (bee) belongs to one or more hives, which can be professional or personal[7]

This social network also has an on-site publishing tool for blogging which is called beBee Producer. Every user can use this blogging tool to write long articles and share them among the rest of the users in different hives.

At the same time, beBee launched its beBee Ambassadors program[8], meant to hand out shares to its most active and engaged users. The shares can be cashed once the company goes public or is bought privately by a third party.

History

edit

Mixmail.com is a Spain-based site an email server founded in 1997, that was sold to Jazztel Internet Factory Ya.com.

After selling Mixmail.com, its team creates Canalmail, that will changed its name to MediaResponse in the year 2000. Eight years later, this company is sold to Veronis Shuler Stevenson,

The same team will later create Red Trabajar, also Spain-based, which is dedicated to job searching by professional fields. Red Trabajar was present in Spain, Mexico, Brazil, Colombia, Argentina, Chile, Portugal, Peru and Venezuela.

In 2015, with over 6 millions users around the world, Red Trabajar reinvents its brand and launches the affinity-based social network, beBee.com.
