The 2002 IFMAR 1:10 Electric Off-Road World Championship was the 9th edition of the biennial IFMAR 1:10 Electric Off-Road World Championship for 1:10 radio-controlled off-road buggies sanctioned by the International Federation of Model Auto Racing (IFMAR) to be run over two separate classes over [total] days on 6 through 11 May 2002 with each class running for [total] days each in total.^[1] It marks the first of the five IFMAR Worlds event taking place in South Africa.

The national sanctioning body, South African Radio Driver's Association (SARDA) acted as a host nation on behalf of Fourth Association of Model Auto Racing (FAMAR) with Tshwane Raceway and Promotions (TRAP) acting as the host organization for the championship.

The event was originally due to take place in 13-21 October 2001 at Air Force Base Waterkloof in Pretoria, South Africa but due to the September 11 attacks a few weeks in advance, it was delayed as a direct result.^[2]^[3]

It was rescheduled with a week space in between to when the On-Road Worlds was due to take place to save cost for both competitors and manufacturers taking place at the Pretoria's Agricultural Union Centre.^[4]^[5]

Yokomo's Masami Hirosaka of Japan and Team Losi's Jukka Steenari of Finland, was the defending champions of the 2WD and 4WD class respectively. The 2WD class was won by Team Losi's Matt Francis of the United States. In the 4WD class, Steenari successfully defended his title.
