The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Rwanda refers to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church) and its members in Rwanda. The first branch was organized in 2008. In 2022, there were 1,154 members in six congregations.

District and Congregations edit

The Kigali Rwanda District was created on 26 March 2017. As of September 2023, the district had the following congregations:[3]

  • Gisozi Branch
  • Kicukiro Branch
  • Kigali 1st Branch
  • Kigali 2nd Branch
  • Kigali 3rd Branch
  • Kigali 4th Branch
  • Kinyinya Branch
  • Nyamata Branch

The Rwanda Kigali Mission Branch covers areas within the mission that not in proximity of a meetinghouse. Congregations not part of a stake are called branches, regardless of size.

Missions edit

Rwanda was part of the Uganda Kampala Mission when missionaries first came to Rwanda. On 30 June 2022, the Rwanda Kigali Mission was created and encompases Rwanda, Burundi and a portion of Eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo.[4]

Burundi edit

The Bujumbura Burundi District was created on 22 August 2022. As of September 2023, the district had the following congregations:[5]

  • Bujumbura 1st Branch
  • Bujumbura 2nd Branch
  • Bujumbura 3rd Branch
  • Kanyosha Branch

A Family History Center is located in Bujumbura.[6]

Democratic Republic of the Congo edit

As of September 2023, the mission also provides ecclesiastical leadership for three congregations in the Democratic Republic of the Congo:

  • Goma Branch
  • Kalundu Branch
  • Uvira

Temples edit

There are no temples in Rwanda. As of May 2022, Rwanda was located in the Kinshasa Democratic Republic of the Congo Temple District with the Nairobi Kenya Temple under construction.[7]
