Hello! I am a first-year student at Rice University studying social policy analysis. I am interested in environmental justice, conservation, immigration rights, gender, and human rights policies.

I am proposing the following topic for my PJHC course assignment. To see the changes that I am working on, please refer to my sand box.

Reproductive rights in Latin America

The pre-existing Wikipedia article on reproductive rights in Latin America is focused on the programs and methods currently at use to improve reproductive rights in Latin America. Mostly comprised of developing countries, Latin American women face many injustices, including a lack of bodily autonomy in many places. This issue is close to my heart because my family is from Mexico, but we don’t visit as much as we’d like to because of how dangerous Latin America is for women. Reproductive rights are an important step to help empower women.

This article is currently considered a Class-C article, so there is a lot of room for improvement. The main issue with this article is that it does not reference individual countries in Latin America. It paints Latin America as one homogenous region when in reality it is a mix of many different countries with their own attitudes and policies on reproductive rights. If I worked on this article, I would investigate the individual countries. I would also dive deeper into the reproductive rights of migrant and indigenous women.
