Somaya Reece (rapper)

Somaya Reece, better known by her stage name Somaya "Boss" Reece or LA Jefa, is an American hip hop singer-rapper-song writer, actress, television personality on VH1 reality show Love And Hip Hop. Known for her popularity on Myspace with over 31 million page views on her self released music. In Februrary, 2010, INgrooves digital distribution company released her single "Tramp" featuring Chelsea Chanel "CC" Dudly the "rapping secretary" on Rob Dyrdek's MTV reality show Fantasy Factory.

On January 27, 2011 VP of Def Jam Recordings Sha Money XL considers her "The Female Pitbull" Pitbull (rapper) in XXL magazine and lists Somaya Reece in XXL Magazine as "7 Female MCs You Need To Know!"

In May 2011, Lionsgate & Pantelion films releases Latin dance film "Go For It" where Somaya plays herself and scores her record "Ooh Baby Baby" as the soundtrack to the film.

Early Years

Somaya Reece was born in the United States, Los Angeles, California to parents who immigrated from El Salvador after the El Salvador Civil War with 5 siblings. Somaya and parents lived in a garage in poverty stricken-gang riddled neighborhood that is South Central Los Angeles and The Pico Union district. Her parents had hopes the US would help build a better life for their children, both parents occupations were of a maid (mother) and a shoe maker (father) for less than minimum wage. Raised in a less than perfect home of alcoholism and verbal-pysical abuse. At the early age of 9, Somaya's troubled home life lead her down what would be the beginning of a dark life. At 9 years of age, Somaya seeking peace outside of her home began playing the violin and chorus in after school programs as her therapy. Not long into her program, she began hanging out with local troubled youth which led her to spiral down a path of school absence, jail, shot-wounded, and a case of domestic abuse resulting in blunt trauma to her right face-temple. When Somaya turned 18 she decided her dark life needed a change. Somaya now shares her story as a troubled youth in public speeches around the US in both public schools and shelters.

Reality Television

In May, 2011, Somaya "Boss" Reece was casted as herself in a 8 episode docu series, Season 1 of "Love And Hip Hop" on VH1.
