Kuvukiland
editKuvukiland is a small informal settlement in the southern part of Tsumeb. It was a project of the municipality of Tsumeb,to accommodate people that can't afford to rent or buy houses and those that want to build houses using cheap material.
Kuvukiland only has sanitation and water available to the public ,no roads,streetlights.It has been expending to dangerous heights, this has resulted in the increase of crimes, namely rape,killing and theft.It has than come to the attention of the Tsumeb community that something should be done and that they do not feel safe in the town they once knew as "The peaceful Town". The municipal staff members say that the land is being taken over by illegal settlers and there is little they can do about it. Most of them believe that the main cause of this is the high unemployment rate in Tsumeb,this is a serious issue affecting Tsumeb and Namibia as a country at large.
In conclusion this a problem that must be addressed as fast as possible.
