The 1997-98 Primeira Liga was the 64th season of top-tier football in Portugal. It began on August 22, 1997 and ended on May 16, 1998. F.C. Porto were the defending champions. The season is notable for the Portuguese Football Federation's decision to relegate Leça F.C., despite the club finishing 12th, due to past acts of corruption.
