Baduy or badui is an indigenous ethnic group of Indonesia who lives in the western part of Java island.

History edit

Following the fall of Majapahit kingdom from the series of battles against the Sultanate of Demak around 1500, Islam emerged as the main forces in Java; transforming Hindu Javanese courts and progressively towards rural areas.[1] The collapse forced Majapahit to establish their religious and political elite in Bali island, which has shaped the courtly religious tradition in the island until today.
