Blood Battle is an annual blood drive competition between the University of Michigan and Ohio State. It started in 1982 and is currently in its 29th year as a competition. The competition consists of blood drives across the University of Michigan and Ohio State campuses in the weeks leading up to the annual football game between the two schools.
History
editThe competition began in 1982, and the University of Michigan won the first version. Michigan proceeded to win 9 of the first 10 competitions. However, in the 1990s, Ohio State began to start a streak of their own and in the 2000s went on a 5 year winning streak, from 2003 to 2007. [1][2] After losing by a mere three pints in 2007, Michigan broke OSU's streak in 2008 and currently has held the trophy for two years in a row. [3][1] Michigan leads the overall competition with a 16-11-1 record. [1]
