Jachmin Mijanou Antonia Pinedo (born September 15, 1962) is a dutch business woman and a radio show host. She is the owner, founder and managing director of Radio DIRECT 107.1 FM and Radio "Life" 92.1 FM which are both operational on the island of Curaçao.
Business life
editOn September,27 2001 she founded a radio station called "Radio DIRECT 107.1FM" and later added a second radio station "Radio Life 92.1FM" as an affiliate of Radio DIRECT 107.1. She is a popular radio news show presenter and her show is highly ranked in audience levels locally. Her show is focused on news and current events that are both local and international. She has a charismatic way of presenting the news and other interesting events and is sometimes very vocal about current developments and events on the island. Her sensationalistic approach to the news is arguably the reason why she is so popular. She is often perceived as being very courageous and well prepared when covering a current event. Presenters and reporters that she employs are also very critical and vocal about issues that concern the public.
Recent events
editHer main radio station (DIRECT 107.1) recently started to stream live images of her show on the web. During her show you can see her at the studio talking into the mic accompanied by her reporters and other news personalities. There also has been some speculation for the past few years (currently Q3 2011) that she may have the intention to enter the TV broadcasting business and start her own TV channel. But this has been only a rumor for years without any developments in this area.
Jachmin Pinedo has even received threats of bodily harm and has faced numerous slanderous accusations both from anonymous sources as well as politicians. She has been constantly accused of being biased, a local controversial politician Helmin Wiels of the Pueblo Soberano political party has even called for a boycott of her advertisers, he urged his constituents to not be or stop being customers of companies that advertise at her radio stations.
