Camarosporiaceae is a family of sac fungi.[2] They are saprobic, endophytic and pathogenic on leaves and wood in various terrestrial habitats.

The overview LSU phylogeny showed Two species of Pleospora, Pleospora flavigena and Pleospora fallens, were not congeneric with genus Pleospora (based on Pleospora herbarum) and therefore the new genera Camarosporomyces and Foliophoma (Coniothyriaceae family) were introduced to accommodate these taxa.[1]

Camarosporomyces Etymology: Named after its morphological similarity to Camarosporium and its phoma-like synasexual morph.[1]
Type – Camarosporium Schulzer, Verh. K.K. Notes – Camarosporiaceae was validated to accommodate Camarosporium and Camarosporomyces by Wanasinghe et al. (2017a). This is a well-supported family in Pleosporineae sister to Leptosphaeriaceae in phylogenetic analyses (Wanasinghe et al. 2017a). See Crous & Groenewald (2017) and Wanasinghe et al. (2017a)

Note: Camarosporomyces flavigenus is a phoma-like fungus which was originally described as Phoma flavigena, and later placed in Pleospora by De Gruyter et al. (2013), who used a much wider circumscription of the genus Pleospora than applied here.[5]
