The Atractosporales are an order of fungi holding 3 families; Atractosporaceae H. Zhang, K.D. Hyde & Maharachch., Conlariaceae H. Zhang, K.D. Hyde & Maharachch. and Pseudoproboscisporaceae H. Zhang, K.D. Hyde & Maharachch. within the subclass class of Diaporthomycetidae.[2] They are

History edit

Order Atractosporales was introduced to resolve the taxonomic problems of annulatascaceae-like taxa that were previously placed in Annulatascaceae family and also Sordariomycetes genera incertae sedis. Three families of Atractosporaceae, Conlariaceae, and Pseudoproboscisporaceae were included in the order by Zhang et al. (2017).[1] The monophyly (taxonomic grouping) of this order was not well-supported in previous studies (Luo et al. 2019).[3] Luo et al. (2019) also showed that family Junewangiaceae and genusCancellidium,[4] also clustered in Atractosporales order,[3] and this agrees with phylogenetic analyses, but with low bootstrap support. Hyde et al. 2020 retained Cancellidium (Tubaki 1975) as Sordariomycetes genera incertae sedis. This ambiguous group may be included in this order with larger taxon sampling in future phylogenetic analyses. The divergence time for Atractosporales has been estimated as 106 MYA (million years ago), which falls in the range for family status. The status of Atractosporales members may therefore need revision following further study. Currently there are three families and six genera in this order (Hyde et al. 2020).[5] Cancellidium was later placed in family Cancellidiaceae K.D. Hyde & Hongsanan and order Cancellidiales K.D. Hyde & Hongsanan.[2]

Family Junewangiaceae was later placed in Sordariomycetes families [[[incertae sedis]] in 2020.[2]
