Regulated Qualifications Framework The Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF) is a framework for vocational and general qualifications introduced by the UK Government's Office of Qualifications and Examinations Regulation (Ofqual)in October 2015. It replaces the National Qualifications Framework (NQF) and the Qualifications and Credit Framework (QCF), meaning that all Ofqual-regulated qualifications in England and Northern Ireland are included on the same framework for the first time.
The RQF is specified using two points of reference: size and level. The size of a qualification is described in Total Qualification Time (TQT), replacing the older systems of Guided Learning Hours and QCF Credits. The RQF still allows qualifications to be unitised and credit-rated as they had to be on the QCF, however Credit in the RQF is a function of Total Qualification Time (calculated as TQT divided by 10) which is a change from the QCF model.
