To be included in this category, an article must satisfy these criteria:

  1. Subject must be a major river. (Of course this will require definition; perhaps something like "according to cartographers")
  2. For a significant contiguous part of its overall length, (say 75%)
  3. Flows much further north than east or west, (measured at the end points along that selected part) to a ratio of 9 units (or more) north for every 1 east or west, (tidal effects igbored)
  4. And attest to this in the text of the article (preferably in the lead paragraphs).

The purpose of this category is to dispel the notion that all or most rivers flow south by listing counterexamples.
