Kwak (Beer)

Kwak is a Belgian Beer Kwak is Amber ale that is brewed by the Bosteels Brewery. It is sold at 8.4% alcohol by volume. It has distinctive feature, as it is served in a glass with a particular form, blown to hang it on a coach (“verre à cocher”). As reported by the Brewery, the special form was invented for the coachmen so that they could drink beer without leaving their coach.

Origin of the name

According to the Legend the name of the Beer comes from the famous “kwak” noise you can hear when you have emptied your glass and the air comes up in it. In fact it is named after its inventor, the brewer Pauwel Kwak whose Nickname was Teddy Kwak.

Pouring

Kwak is poured with slightly roasted malt, it is warm fermented (between 15°C and 25°C) and filtered before being filled into bottles. Its main ingredients are water, barley malt, hop, sugar and yeast.
