WQIN[1] is a pilot project for a Collaborative Water Quality Knowledge and Information Network.

Its goal is to provide tools for a new and dynamic way to exchange of information. It is a completely open system, where users can not only contribute with information on Water Quality but can also suggest and even write new applications for the network itself. To address information reliability, a community filtering process is being implemented, and every piece of information will be rated and have a link to its source.

The network was developed based on responses from the questionnaire distributed among professionals from different segments of the water resources community, when key elements where identified and then implemented.

The main goal of WQIN is to transform scattered water quality information into structured knowledge.
