Alexander Zeitlin, who recently returned from Paris, has taken a studio at 59 Gramercy Park.

Alexandre Zeitlin, sculptor who created portrait busts and statuettes of many famous persons, including Emile Zola, Albert Einstein and King Edward VII, died yesterday in Knickerbocker Hospital after a long illness. He was 73 years old.
Born in Russia, Mr. Zeitlin studied at the Royal Academy of Vienna from 1890 to 1894, and later at the Beaux-Arts in Paris. He first won recognition for his statue "Despair," and a portrait bust of Mlle. Jeanne Hatto of the Opéra de Paris in 1900.
Some of his works are in museums here, including the Smithsonian Institution at Washington, and in France and Russia. The Government of France awarded the Palmes Académiques to him in 1903 for portrait busts of Camille Flammarion.
He leaves a widow, Sophie, of 244 West Ninety-ninth Street, and two brothers Leo, conductor of the Moscow Conservatory of Music, and Joseph, an architect and civil engineer in London.
