Appointed in July 1913, Albert Fisher was Notts' first manager. He the first to win a League title with the club, taking them to the top of the Second Division at the end of his opening season, before repeating this feat in 1922–23. Horace Henshall led the club to its first Third Division South title in 1930–31

Records and statistics

Notts' record for the most first team appearances in all competitions is held by Albert Iremonger, who played 564 matches between 1904 and 1926. The club's top goal scorer is Les Bradd, who scored 137 goals from 1967 to 1978. Harry Cursham netted six goals against Wednesbury Strollers in an 1881–82 FA Cup second round replay, a club record for a competitive fixture. Macaulay Langstaff holds Notts' record for the most goals scored in a single season, with 42 in the 2022–23 National League. Trevor Christie has the most club goals scored in the first tier, with 41 from 1979 to 1984. The youngest player to play for Notts is Jermaine Pennant, who was aged 15 years and 341 days when he was substituted on against Hull City in the first round of the 1998–99 Associate Members' Cup. The oldest player is Albert Iremonger, who played his last match aged 41 years and 320 days against Huddersfield Town in the 1925–26 First Division. The first Notts player to be capped was Ernest Greenhalgh, who played for England against Scotland in the world's first international match in 1872. Kevin Wilson is the most capped player while at the club, making 16 appearances for Northern Ireland between 1992 and 1994.

The club's largest League wins are 10–0 against Burslem Port Vale in the 1894–95 Second Division and 11–1 against Newport County in the 1948–49 Third Division South. Notts' biggest victory overall is 15–0 against Rotherham Town in the first round of the 1885–86 FA Cup. Its largest defeats are 9–1 losses to Aston Villa in the 1888–89 Football League, Blackburn Rovers in 1889–90 (also in the Football League) and Portsmouth in the 1926–27 Second Division. The team's longest unbeaten run was in the 2022–23 National League between 24 September and 25 February, to which they remained undefeated for 25 matches, totalling 19 wins and six draws.

Notts' highest home attendance is 47,310 for a 1954–55 FA Cup sixth round match against York City on 12 March. The club's record home attendance in the League is 46,000 for a 1949–50 Third Division South tie against Nottingham Forest on 22 April. Jackie Sewell broke the world transfer record in March 1951 when he moved from Notts to Sheffield Wednesday for £34,500. The highest transfer fee received by the club is the £2.5 million from Derby County for Craig Short in September 1992. The highest transfer fee paid is the £750,000 to Sheffield United for Tony Agana in November 1991.
