Upon suggestion from another user, I am considering using the Wikibooks site instead. Perhaps this would be best, or perhaps the type of content I am looking to add would be suited to Wikipedia. At any rate, many of the cooking related articles here could use work, so perhaps I will shelve this project for now and work on some articles. Something tells me nobody is really going to read this anyway.
General Information edit
I am currently interested in starting a Cooking wiki at WikiCities. There seems to be an unfulfilled demand for a centralized database of knowledge related to cooking and food. By separating the content from Wikipedia, we can make our own rules and guidelines that will be best for a project of this nature. This wiki will include, but not necessarily be limited to, the following categories of information:
- Ingredients
- Recipes
- Cooking Methods and Techniques
- Books
- Chefs
- Kitchen Tools
- Regional Cuisines
- TV Shows
- Magazine Articles
- Movements in Cooking (such as Slow Food)
The project is currently being developed on WikiCities Scratchpad, and can be found here.
Potential Names edit
I have not yet decided on a name for this project. The ideas I have come up with so far (in about 2 minutes) are as follows:
- WikiChef
- WikiCook
- WiKitchen
- WikiKitchen
- A Cook's Wiki
