“Wait and Bleed” is a song by the American nu metal band Slipknot, from their debut album.

Composition and origins

edit

“Wait and Bleed” is two minutes and twenty-seven seconds long. Before the release of Slipknot, The song features two different vocal tracks: one described as “cleaner” and the other had a “hard voice.” Drummer Joey Jordison said that the cleaner track was there “for a little ambience, ” and later noted that the vocal track was also very melodic, especially when compared to the other track.[1]

Although Jordioson and other members favored the overdub of vocals, when Terry Date remixed the track, the track containing a “hard voice” was not included. The remix was said by Jordison to be a “re-jigged version.” Jason Arnopp said that both the remix and studio version are “heavier than an elephant sack of spanners hanging from each tusk.” As he admits, the remix was not favored by Jordison.[1]
