Johnston County Regional Airport (ICAO: KJNX, FAA LID: JNX) is a public use airport located three nautical miles (3 mi, 5 km) northwest of Smithfield, a town in Johnston County, North Carolina, United States. It is owned by the Johnston County Airport Authority.

Although most U.S. airports use the same three-letter location identifier for the FAA and IATA, this airport is assigned JNX by the FAA but has no designation from the IATA (which assigned JNX to Naxos Island National Airport in Naxos, Greece). The airport's ICAO identifier is KJNX.

History

Johnston County Regional was inaugurated in June of 1978, first being constructed with a runway of 3,700 ft in length (1,128 m).

Facilities

Johnston County Regional covers an area of 463 acres (187 ha) at an elevation of 164 feet (50 m) above mean sea level. It has one asphalt paved runway, designated 3/21, which is 5,500 in length and 100 feet in width (1,676 x 30 m). The airport has an automated weather observation system (AWOS) and an instrument landing system (ILS) on runway 3. This airport hosts a flight school, and has a variety of hangers for general aviation aircraft.
