John Hosking
John Hosking is an organist and composer residing in St. Asaph, North Wales.
He was born in Cornwall in 1976 and initial organ studies were with Peter Jolley and David Briggs.
In 1994, John became Organ Scholar at St. Martin-in-the-Fields, undertaking further organ study with Martin Baker. John entered the Royal College of Music as an undergraduate student in 1995, studying with Nicholas Danby and Margaret Phillips. In 1996 he became Organ Scholar of Westminster Abbey[1]; he is the only person to have held this post for an extended period of three years.
Since 2004, he has worked at St. Asaph Cathedral[2] where he is currently Assistant Director of Music and Director of the Cathedral's Voluntary Choir.
John's compositional output primarily consists of choral music. The Ely Cathedral Girls' Choir together with the Choir of Selwyn College, Cambridge have recorded a disc of his choral works for Regent Records due for release in 2016. Most of his compositions are published by the Chichester Music Press.
