What is Wikidoption?

What is Wikidoption? Wikidoption is a new program designed to help new users. Older editors can "adopt" newbies, helping them along the way as they learn about Wikipedia. We hope that this program will be able to steer new users away from vandalism and the such, while at the same time teaching them the ins and outs of Wikipedia.

Why haven't I heard of this before?

Wikidoption is a totally new program, with little participation. It was created recently to help new users get along, and also to give older editors the chance to teach what they know to new editors.

Why is there two pages for Wikidoption?

This is the publicity page for Adopt-a-User. This page is designed to increase participants in the program. We hope that eventually the Adopt-a-User program will be as large as other programs, such as Esperanza. This page is not the offical page for Adopt-a-User.

How do I join?

Joining Wikidoption is easy and fun. You can add the template {{Adoptme}} to your userpage, and also add you name to the list to make sure an older editor will find you faster. If you are wishing to adopt a newer user, just look through the new users listed here. When you find one you wish to adopt, replace the {{Adoptme}} on their user page with {{Adoptee|your username}} and add Adopter|Adoptee's user name to your own page.
