Claire Parker (born 13 October 1962) is a stand up comedienne from Surrey in England. Her comedy touches on amongst others; sexual politics, observation and her experiances as a transgender female. She hit the comedy scene in 2008[1] and is a regular on the Brighton Comedy Circuit.

Early Life

edit

Claire officially came into existence in 2004 after many years of living in a different role. It was in 2008 that she decided to explore the possibility of getting back onto the stage after many years of amateur dramatics as a performer and a director/producer. So she enrolled in a comedy course and explored how to bring the world of a transgendered women into the main stream through comedy.

Reception

edit

Claire has a great stage presence and athough she has only been around for about a year she already has an assured and comfortable style that holds an audience firmly in her comedy grip. She is one of only a few comedians whose life is so bizarre and challenging for audiences that they are held memorised by her journey. One minute you’re laughing out loud the next you’re transfixed by what she’s going to tell you next.

Her performances are a mix of acerbic, witty observations through to probably the best female impression of Jimmy Savile on the circuit

Reviews

edit

She first came to promminece in the summer of 2008 at the Bright ’n’ Queer charity comedy evvent, Joogleberry Playhouse Brighton where she was quoted as “highlight of the evening“[2]

Since then she has gained her comedy legs on the wider circuit and is now breaking ground with full comedy sets at established venues there she was described as "a large presence and a distinct voice...with her razor sharp humour and satirical wit[3]
