  • I believe I've mentioned this in the past, that we have two methods of requesting community input on media files which do not satisfy any of the criteria listed at WP:CSD or media files with questionable copyright status. Respectively, the methods are Wikipedia:Files for deletion (essentially the XFD specific for files) and Wikipedia:Possibly unfree files. Files for deletion (FFD) to files is essentially what AFD is to articles. At FFD, you will find files that have been nominated for a variety of reasons, ranging from disagreements in interpretations of NFCC to the usefulness/value of files. As for Wikipedia:Possibly unfree files (PUF), one can think of this to files as WP:PROD is to articles, except for the fact that nominations can be controversial. The idea behind WP:PUF is to reduce the strain on FFD and create a separate venue where files with questionable or unclear copyright status can be explicitly discussed. The formatting of FFD and PUF is a little different from its counterparts at WP:XFD. Instead of creating new pages in the Wikipedia namespace, a section header is created on a parent page subpage of FFD/PUF bearing the date.
  • Now with that being said, I think that'll do for an intro to WP:FFD and WP:PUF. For your next assignment, I'd like you to head down to WP:PUF and WP:FFD and !vote in 5 discussions at each for a total of 10 !votes. Once you're finished, list the discussions below. The idea of this exercise is to familiarize you with FFD/PUF. Any !vote you make is your opinion and your opinion alone - I will not seek to change any of them. Just remember what you've learned and use commons sense! Also, I'd appreciate it if you didn't !vote in any of the discussions where I'm the nominator - we don't want to come off as votestacking/meatpuppeting now would we? :)

Good work. If you plan to focus on media files a sysop, WP:FFD and WP:PUF will be very important areas for you. I encourage you to continue !voting every once in awhile (you don't have to list the discussions here) as to help establish a name for yourself among the big names in media file copyright/management; doing this will surely make it easier for you to garner supports during RfA. -FASTILY (TALK) 18:11, 23 May 2010 (UTC)
  • Now I'd like to ask you - have you ever performed a non-admin closure on any WP:XFD discussion?
A:Yes, one or two. The one I remember is This
Alright, I see you have a fair understanding of how XFD closes work. I'll find some discussions to use as exercises and post them within 48 hours. For the time being though, I'd like you to read/review WP:DGFA, WP:CONSENSUS, and WP:DPR#FFD. -FASTILY (TALK) 05:06, 28 May 2010 (UTC)
  • For each of the below, please review each linked discussion and indicate how you would close each debate (assuming the full 7 days has elapsed), with a short explanation detailing why you would take the action you indicated. Because I chose old revisions, the conclusion you come to may be different from how the debate was actually closed, either way, please don't peak!! Let's get started.

I think some of these links are dead so don't worry about completing the assignment. When exams are finished, I'll find you a new batch. Cheers, FASTILY (TALK) 04:14, 12 June 2010 (UTC)
