Robert Gregory Bourdon is an American Musician and Songwriter best known as the Drummer, Percussionist and Founding Member of the Grammy Award winning American Rock Band Linkin Park.[1]

Early Life and Linkin Park

edit

Rob had started playing drums at an age of 10. But, his hobby took face of professionalism when he with his mother went to an Aerosmith concert where he met Aerosmith's Drummer Joey Kramer, whom his mother knew and then he was inspired to become a drummer himself.[2]

Bourdon met Mike Shinoda and Brad Delson in High School and these 3 eventually became the founding members of the Best Selling band that debuted after the end of last millennium - Linkin Park.[3]

Bourdon, Mike and Brad later recruited 3 other band members namely,Joe Hahn, Mark Wakefield and Dave 'Phoenix' Farrell in their band Xero but the band couldn't last long due to lack of success and one by one band members started leaving the band in search of better projects. Farrell and Wakefield left the band and found other bands to work with. Xero split up. But, things for the band started to look better as Jeff Blue introduced the band to a vocalist from Arizona who was none other than, Chester Bennington ( Linkin Park's current Vocalist ).

The band got together and started working and composing music without Wakefield and Farrell. But, again the band couldn't find any Label to produce their debut album before Jeff Blue who was now the vice president at Warner Bros. Records helped the band sign up a deal with the company. Then the band later got back their Bassist, Farrell and then came out "Hybrid Theory" which is the best selling album for the band uptil now. [4]

Notable Works

edit

Rob Bourdon has been known for the display of his brilliant drums playing skills which has also been a significant trace for Linkin Park at both Live Performances and Soundtracks from Studio Albums.

One of his best works include Faint from the album Meteora. The track includes a fast drumbeat in the start as the rap by Shinoda begins which dominates most of the verse.

The last single from the band for Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen , New Divide also includes a well appreciated drum-work by Bourdon.

One of the most appreciated live performances by Bourdon was at Milton Keynes during Linkin Park's "Projekt Revolution" tour in 2008 at Milton Keynes in U.K. the band performed "Bleed It Out" and it included a drum solo by Bourdon of about 3 minutes. [5]

Side Projects

edit

Rob has been involved in a few solo projects as well.

In 2007 when Linkin Park was given a chance to try out Digidesign's PC Tools 8 Software, Shinoda and Bourdon eventually made up an instrumental track called "Lockjaw".[8]
