Hanson grew up a diplomat, spending her formative years between Beijing China and Washington, DC. She attended Walter Johnson High School, and later Montgomery College.[1] At an early age, she was a keen singer and songwriter, penning her first song at the age of six. Afer buying her first guitar at the age of 14, she learned basic chords and in just three weeks was introduced to the musical stage in a pub in Gaithersburg, Maryland. From there, she continued to write songs and played on stage as a trio at her high school in 1985 and 1986. At the age of 23 she moved to Nashville, Tennessee, to work in a Christian music Artist Management company who represented Petra, Cindy Morgan, Point of Grace, Wayne Watson, and 4Him. During this period, she freelanced recording national radio advertisements for three years, through Mark Ryder Productions.
Coinciding with this, she persued acting, and in 1995 was cast in her first role as the temptress Sonja in Godspell in Nashville, Tennessee. This role led to being spotted by a local talent scout at Advantage Talent, who took her in to train extensively in presenting and acting, where she also joined The Actor's Agency, specifically training in Stanislavski's Method Acting.== References ==
Her first casting was as the New York Times Editor in 1996's, The People v. Larry Flint with Woody Harrelson and Courtney Love, directed by Milos Forman. In 1997, she performed as a guest at the governor's ball in Last Dance Sharon Stone, directed by Bruce Beresford.
July, 1997, Hanson was suddenly struck with a pituitary and hypothalomus stalk tumour, forcing her to leave Nashville and move into hospital near Washington, DC for two months. During her recovery period, she settled in Edinburgh, Scotland, marrying violinist Eddy Hanson of the Scottish band Prodigal Sons, with whom they had two children, divorcing six years later.
Joining the acting team at Glasgow's West End Management, she picked up several jobs in commercials, and print work for a UK uniform catalogue and Gala Bingo. In 2003 she was cast in BBC's River City. She then moved to Monaco in 2004 to work in administration at a language school, and for Formula 1 driver Heinz Herald Frentzen.
Hanson returned to Edinburgh and went back to work as an actress in 2016, with her first job the lead role as Eve in short film, A Sinking Feelling, written and directed by Mhairi MacDonald. Taking on SA roles in television production Outlander, directed by Metin Hüseyin and advertisements with Royal Bank of Scotland and Edinburgh Council, she was picked to work with director Danny Boyle in Trainspotting 2, and body double for Anne Marivin in French feature film, L'Embarras de Choix, and SAs in BBC's Clique, and BBC's Trust Me.
In 1997, she was cast in the Malayalam Indian film Adam John, as a Police Constable opposite Prithviraj Sukumaran, Rahul Madhav and Bhavana.
