Mobilitie is an American technology company headquartered in Newport Beach, California with offices around the world. The company is the largest privately-held wireless infrastructure provider in the US and a global provider of wireless solutions; funding, designing, building and operating networks and infrastructure. Mobilitie’s wireless infrastructure includes neutral host outdoor and indoor Distributed Antenna Systems (DAS), Small Cells, communication towers, as well as Wi-Fi networks.

History

Mobilitie was founded in 2004 with the goal of assisting wireless carriers in meeting their network infrastructure needs through a strategic partnership model. [1] Since its founding, Mobilitie has grown and developed relationships both in the United States and internationally.

In February 2008, GE provided a $425 million credit facility to Mobilitie to support the acquisition of additional towers and deployment of more wireless infrastructure assets. Michael Chen, President and CEO for GE’s Media, Communications & Entertainment business said, “As we continue to provide flexible financing solutions in this market, we are thrilled to have provided Mobilitie a financing package that supports the company’s growth rates and business model.” [2]

Mobilitie forged a strategic partnership with Pangea to provide them with dark fiber in September 2008. The relationship created a cost-effective alternative transport solution, throughout the New York Metro market. [3] [3]


In February 2009, Mobilitie constructed the beginning phases of its DAS network in Manhattan. This network provides wireless communication providers a solution for coverage and capacity in Central Park as well as Zone A. [4][4]

In June 2009, Mobilitie began construction of four communication facilities along the north section of the 241 Toll Road in Orange County, California to provide wireless coverage for drivers on the toll road. [5][5]

In 2011, Mobilitie raised $1.1 billion in portfolio sales to fund new wireless infrastructure. [6][6]

In July 2012, Mobilitie brought connectivity to the Time Warner Cable Arena for Charlotte Bobcat fans and attendees of the 2012 Democratic National Convention. This connectivity helped ensure that all devices could successfully connect to the Internet as well as make voice calls. [7][7] In the following years, Mobilitie brought 4G coverage to Tropicana Field [8][8], Nationwide Arena [9][9], Churchill Downs Racetrack [10][10], the Honda Center [11][11], MGM Resorts [12][12], the Verizon Center [13][13], the America's Center Convention Complex, Edward Jones Dome [14][14], National September 11 Memorial Museum [15][15], and the Orlando Citrus Bowl Stadium [16][16].

In 2014 and 2015, Mobilitie’s DAS network at Churchill Downs supported the highest mobile data traffic ever recorded during a one-hour period. [17][17]

In 2015, Mobilitie announced a $325M debt funding deal that would support the company’s growth in small cells, DAS and other wireless infrastructure. [18][18]

Gary Jabara is the CEO and founder of Mobilitie.

In 2012, Jabara was named EY (Ernst & Young) National Entrepreneur of the Year in the Real Estate [22][22], Construction and Lodging category. He was also recognized as one of Orange County’s ‘Hot 25 Leaders’ in 2013 [23][23]. Jabara also received the Orange County Business Journal Excellence in Entrepreneurship award. [24][24] In 2015, Jabara was listed as Orange County’s 28th wealthiest individual. [25][25]

Prior to establishing Mobilitie in 2004, Jabara was Partner at Deloitte & Touch and the firm’s Partner-in-Charge of Wireless Real Estate and Infrastructure. [26]

Jabara is also the owner of Villa Real Estate, one of the fastest real estate firms in Southern California composed of some of Orange County’s leading luxury residential real estate professionals. With four locations throughout Orange County, Jabara envisioned a new kind of real estate firm; one with a philosophy to fundamentally integrate new technology into the home buying process.
