Hello and good day to you. I figured I'd throw together a userpage in case anyone ever stumbles across it, which might become a little likelier as I edit more.

Why I'm here edit

Like many others, I follow piped links until I have about 50 tabs open. In the course of my reading, I find and fix the occasional typo. I've begun opening Special:RecentChanges to revert obvious vandalism if I find it. It seems like the number of eyes watching at any given time is a major contributor to the project's success so to support that, I lend my own eyes while I'm here. The most accurate description for me is WikiGnome.

Not why I'm here edit

To argue, vandalize, or impose my view. I also don't really add or change content but that could change as I get more comfortable. I have no agenda and I'm not an expert. I will eventually expand to adding reliable sources to text but I haven't yet felt ready to take the wheel in that regard.

All editing is done in good faith and not to accumulate edits for future purposes.

I'm not angling for adminship, which is far too social and communicative a position for me at this moment; in fact, it could be argued the whole reason I'm on Wikipedia so often is I'm voluntarily self-isolating and socially avoidant. I'm not saying that's why everyone's here, I'm just talking about me. Anyway reading/minor editing are solitary activities and that's my jam.

But you're still welcome to leave me a message, even if it's just to chew me out for this lame userpage or reverting your vandalism.

About me edit

All edits in the last 10 years have been in good faith. I was a very small-time vandal as a teenager in the 00s but it lost its appeal. This isn't my first account but I have no clue what the names could've been, let alone the passwords. I still consider myself a newbie though. It must be that new account smell.

I'm only comfortable dealing with English for now but I like to meander onto other languages' articles and talk pages.

The 50 tabs I mentioned that seem to fly open within the first hour of binge-reading are usually within the categories of geology, linguistics, pre-revolution Russian history, and physics. I am not proficient in any of these subjects, which is why I'm here reading about them. Beyond the article space, I also like to lurk on the noticeboards to see what's happening and how it's being handled. And of course the Commons. So there's an additional 50 tabs.

Warm hugs and feelings of kinship to those who also find themselves navigating a growing cluster of Wikipedia tabs that started with an off-wiki search for a recipe, song, or film.

Hearts to all! Thanks for stopping by.
