An example of an iceberg chart ranking facts, factoids, and theories from the animated TV series Talking Tom and Friends by how well known they are.

An iceberg chart is an information format in which elements relating to a subject are ranked in a chart from most to least obscure. Elements closer to the top are more commonly known, while subjects closer to the bottom of the chart are less known. In some cases, iceberg charts may be used to rank information on a subject from least to most scary.

Popularity

edit

Iceberg charts started to get popular when YouTuber Mish Koz uploaded a video discussing and explaining an iceberg chart revolving around the videogame Super Mario 64[1]. The video was popular, with as of 2023, having 4.9 million views. It started a trend on YouTube with others making videos on Super Mario 64 theories and more iceberg charts.

The website icebergcharts.com was created to host a variety of iceberg charts, with tools avaliable to edit and add more information to iceberg charts.
