Jeonghan
editYoon Jeonghan (Korean: 정한; October 4, 1995), professionally known as Jeonghan is a South Korean singer-songwriter under Pledis Entertainment. He is a member of the boy group SEVENTEEN and its vocal team[1]. In 2024, he debuted as part of SEVENTEEN's special sub-unit JxW alongside Wonwoo.
Early Life
editJeonghan was born in Miadong, Seoul, South Korea. He attended Hyangnam High School in Seoul where he graduated with a major in Natural Science and was recognized as the third-best student. He subsequently enrolled in Dong-ah Institute of Media and Arts, but eventually dropped out. He then went to Hanyang University’s Institute for Future Talents with a course in Practical Music.
In 2022, Jeonghan along with his fellow members, S.Coups and Woozi, started attending Graduate School of Business & Public Administration at Anyang University[2].
Career
edit2013-2015 (Pre-debut)
editJeonghan was scouted on 2013 and trained for 2 years and 2 months. He is among the last members to join the group. As a trainee, he participated from the second season onwards of Seventeen TV, an online reality show that introduced Pledis' trainees and showed potential members of the boy group Seventeen before their official debut. The show was broadcast periodically on Ustream, where the trainees showed themselves training, singing, creating choreographies and playing games. Before his debut, he appeared on Orange Caramel's "My Copy Cat".
2015-Present (Seventeen and Solo Activites)
editIn 2015, Jeonghan made his debut as a member of the K-pop boy group SEVENTEEN with the extended play 17 Carat on May 29. He participated in writing some of their songs on albums: "Al1", "Teen, Age", "Director's Cut", "Semicolon", and "SEVENTEEN". After his debut, he also appeared in Show! Music Core (2015), M Countdown (2016), I love you Korea #1 (Dream Concert in 2016), M Countdown (2017), KCON 2018 JAPAN, M Countdown (2018), M Countdown (2018), and KCON 2019 NY as special MC along with some of his members.
In 2021, Jeonghan self-composed and produced his solo single "Dream" which was released in Korean and Japanese versions[3].
In 2023, he joined MBC's Magic Lamp as a cast member together with his fellow SEVENTEEN member, Dino.
In 2024, Jeonghan debuted as a part Seventeen's second official duo subunit Jeonghan X Wonwoo, alternatively known as JxW, with the single album This Man. Achieving commercial success, This Man broke the first-week sales record for an album released by a K-pop sub-unit within four days of its release.[4].

editFashion and Ambassadorships
editJeonghan became a brand ambassador of Korea's leading cosmetic brand Banila Co. in 2021 and was then selected as the official spokesperson of the brand in China 2 years after[5].
He also made his solo features on various magazines. He covered for 1st Look Vol. 220 in 2021, SPUR Magazine (Japan) in 2022, AnAn Magazine (Japan) in 2023. In the same year, he was also featured in GQ Korea February Issue after his appearance in the 2023 FW Men's Collection Fashion Show of the global luxury brand Yves Saint Laurent.
Jeonghan, although not an official brand ambassador, has been invited by YSL multiple times. In January 2023, he was invited to attend the YSL Men’s Winter 23 show in Paris alongside other big names such as NCT‘s Ten and Wednesday stars Jenny Ortega and Georgie Farmer[6]. Following this, in June 2023, Jeonghan was again spotted at YSL 2024 Spring/Summer collection in Berlin, Germany. Most recently, in March 2024, he attended YSL Men's Fall-Winter 2024 collection and was later on featured for Dazed Korea May 2024 Issue.
Popularity
editJeonghan, having the visual of an angel, wasn't only known for his outstanding features and charismatic appearance. During his early debut days, many fans refer to him as the "pretty guy with a long hair". In 2016, the Neowiz Games and MBC Plus’s mobile voting app, “Idol Champ” conducted a poll on “idol who causes short-hair disease” and Jeonghan was voted first with a total percentage of 50.1 beating girl group members such as Girl's Day's Hyeri and AOA's Choa. He went against Hyeri with a 30.1 percent voting difference.
In 2022, during SEVENTEEN's 2022 Japan Fan Meeting in Tokyo, Jeonghan uploaded photos on Instagram capturing some streets in Shibuya, Tokyo that isn't usually seen to be special. However, eventually, a lot of fans lined up on the same spot to take the same pictures as him.
In the monthly ranking released by the Korean Business Research Institute, Jeonghan has never left the Top 50 since May 2022. He reached his highest peaks on January 2024 (Ranked 6th) and March 2024 (Ranked 3rd).
