The Defiance Cycle Ride takes place on Easter Monday to commemorate the first ever chain driven bicycle ride in Wales. It starts in the Amman Valley and ends in Swansea. The Defiance Cycle Company was the first and only cycle manufacturer in Wales and thousands of people lined the route on Easter Monday 1885 to see this, state of the art, mode of transport.[1][2] It was founded by two brothers of the Williams family, Arthur and William Williams who established the factory at the top of the Amman Valley.[3]
