ONGUTI SENIOR SECONDARY SCHOOL

Onguti is a secondary school located about 90KM northern of Ondangwa in Savanna woodland of Okankolo Constituency in Oshikoto Region

The school was established in March 2000. Onguti School is made up of 22 Teachers, 23 Institutional Workers with 8 hostel blocks. 16 classes, 2 science lab and it cater for learners from 8 – 12 in hostel and day learners as well. Currently number of learners of Onguti is at 551.

On 4 July 2001 the school was official inaugurated by the former and late Deputy Prime Minister Honourable Hendrick Witbooi, who encouraged learners to study hard and to practice discipline, as discipline is part of education. I am arguing you all to study hard so that when us the elders retire, you may be able to take over says Honourable Witbooi.

2002 a significant event took place at Onguti school, when the first ever student revealed her HIV status in public and this event had put Onguti school in a history of the country. HIV/AIDS is not a life sentence, I am living positively with the virus, says Nelao Hileni Martin 02 August 2002 during her speech in a packed hall of Onguti SSS.
