Agatha Raisin is the fictional central character in a series of "cosy" murder mystery novels by English author Marion Chesney, writing under the pseudonym M.C. Beaton.

At the beginning of the series, Raisin retires from a high-powered public relations job in London to pursue her childhood dream of owning a cottage in the English Cotswolds[1] While initially facing culture shock due to her wildly changed circumstances, Raisin gradually setlles into a country life, albeit one that frequently involves solving murders committed by those around her. Her character is thus that of the archetypical amateur sleuth, where she frequently solves murders through luck or "bumbling around" as put by her erstwhile
