History

edit

In 1971, Cindy Johnson and Jeri Jenkins attended Miami-Dade Community College studying art and serving at a restaurant in the evenings. A side business they had started connected the two of them with Atlantic Records chief Jerry Wexler who offered them a job hosting Stephen Stills while he was recording the first Manassas album at Criteria Studios. They accepted and Stills was pleased with his stay, leading Wexler to hire them again to provide Eric Clapton the same full rental service. Clapton named his second studio album, 461 Ocean Boulevard, after the address of the rented mansion provided by Cindy and Jeri. Shortly after, the girls hosted The Bee Gees while they were recording their 13th album, Main Course, where they were thanked in the liner notes for their contributions.

After their recent successes, Cindy and Jeri formed Home At Last and they connected with Marian Hotchkiss who allowed them to rent over a dozen of her homes for a 10-percent commission. "Her properties included 4744 North Bay Road, 5625 Pine Tree Drive, and several homes on the Venetian Islands of Rivo Alto, Di Lido and San Marino." In Spring 1976, The Eagles returned to stay with Home At Last again as they recorded their fifth studio album, Hotel California. During their visit, Don Henley and Joe Walsh locked themselves in a room for three days to finish their hit song, "Hotel California", with Cindy, Jeri, and their housekeeper providing everything they would need. The duo continued to host dozens of legendary artists over the years and are thanked in the album credits of artists such as Andy Gibb, The Bee Gees, Crosby, Stills & Nash, David Sanborn, Firefall, Jimmy Buffett, Joe Cocker, The Eagles, and Wishbone Ash. Home At Last closed in 19?? when the music industry and Criteria Records took a hit from the set backs during the 1970's.
