Talli Osborne is a Canadian musician and inspirational speaker. (36 years old at [1])

Biography

Osborne was born without arms and some legbones;[2] she is 3 feet 5.5 inches (1.054 m) tall.[1] After her birth, the Montreal couple to which she was born to who did not want to raise her, so she resided in the hospital nursery for 13 months until she was adopted by a couple in Ontario with one child. In a multi-racial adoptive family, Osborne would ultimately be one of 19 adoptive children, some of which also had special needs. Her adoptive mother volunteered at an adoption agency, while her adoptive father was a mechanic. She recalls that, while growing up, all family members were expected to help with household tasks; for example, in mornings, she would be set to clean litter boxes and floors.[1]

Osborne previously used prosthetic legs and arms, but stopped using the prosthetic arms in high school to avoid needing a teaching assistant.[1] After moving away from her family to enter a social work program at Ryerson University in Toronto, she decided to stop wearing prosthetic legs.[1][3][4] Osborne was the target of online harassment in 2013 after a photo of her was posted to Reddit.[2] Osborne left Ryerson University without graduating and took a job at Virgin Mobile, where she ended up working for seven years in customer service and social media roles. During her time at the company, she was awarded a trip to the private island of Virgin Group CEO Richard Branson in recognition of her customer service work.[1]

Osborne left her job at Virgin Mobile in 2014 to work full-time as an inspirational speaker.[3] Around that time, she moved to Hamilton, and later told CBC News that her "official intro" to the city was to give a talk at Supercrawl, an indie arts festival.[3] CBC News featured her as one of "5 remarkable Hamilton women we met in 2014".[4] The following year, she spoke at the Toronto TEDx conference.[1]

Music

Osborne has performed as a vocalist in a band in such venues as Toronto's Bovine Sex Club.[1] The American punk rock band NOFX wrote a song about Osborne titled "She's Nubs", which appeared on their 2003 album The War on Errorism.[1]
