editAugust 20, 2004: Enter Willy on Wheels
editOn that day, a user known as Willy on Wheels destroyed parts of Wikipedia. This particular citizen did not move cities. Instead, he repeatedly entered the Random City portal and replaced the city with "{{PAGENAME}} has been vandalized by the Willy on wheels", obliterating dozens of cities in two minutes. These cities were rolled back in a few seconds. Next, he vandalized the newspaper-printing factory of Wikipedia. This edit was rolled back after 3 minutes. Two hours later, an anonymous citizen, tagged as 200.48.218.278, replaced the newspaper-printing factory with an inappropriate image. Jimbo and his administrators were assuming that this is Willy editing anonymously. [1]
