Deutschland sucht den Superstar

edit

In 2002, Menderes took part in the first season of Deutschland sucht den Superstar, auditioning with the song "I Can't Let U Go" by Usher. The jury at the time unanimously decided that his voice was not suitable for a professional musical career.

In 2018, a rule change lowering the maximum age for contestants to 30 made Menderes, who was 33 years old at the time, unable to continue participating. As a result, he performed an out-of-competition medley of songs from his previous appearances during the casting round of the fifteenth season that year. He also performed out of competition in 2019, 2020, and 2023. The lattermost was the twentieth season, with Menderes singing "Happy Birthday" for the jury.

Other work

edit

In 2004 and in 2009, Menderes participated in the German version of Popstars. In 2008, he participated in the only season of Singing Bee, the German version of The Singing Bee.

In 2016, he took part in the tenth season of Ich bin ein Star – Holt mich hier raus! and was chosen as the winner by the public. In 2022, he participated in the tenth season of Promi Big Brother and finished fourth.

Since 2019, Menderes has been an occasional guest on Jan Böhmermann's late-night show Neo Magazin Royale and its successor ZDF Magazin Royale.
