The Ghost of Hollywood is a podcast and late night variety show focused on movies. It is hosted by Ms. Ragan & Poxy Lynard.[1][2][3]

The show was launched on KBOO 90.7FM Portland in October 2020.[1][4][5][2]

History

edit

During July of 2020, KBOO Radio in Portland, Oregon began running contemporary programming to fill air space left vacant as a result of recent closures caused by the pandemic.[6]

To help out, a local disc jockey named Zach Flanary developed a late night variety show to fill space throughout that summer.[7][8]Along with another local DJ, Stephen Haller, the two were cast as a duo of cronies - The War Pig and Poxy Lynard - who’re hosting a pirate radio show about old movies inside of a rundown entertainment center called War Pig’s Arcade.[9]

Zach would eventually write in another character, a cocky six year old girl named Ragan, who tortured her audience during a game show appropriately titled, Scenes or Death. This role would be performed by his teenage daughter, Ragan Flanary.[10] Matt Cosby was also brought on to DJ ‘late night dance parties’ throughout the show.[11]

After writing and producing four episodes, Electric Garden Company decided to apply for regular programming in September of 2020. Even though the sixth episode of the program would bring the original run of War Pig’s Arcade to a close by the end of summer, the application was accepted and the show was eventually picked up by KBOO a short time later. However, Zach and Ragan would opt to rewrite her character as a witty teenager, replacing War Pig as the other host alongside Poxy Lynard. This new program was named, The Ghost of Hollywood.[5][4]
