Ben Groucutt (born 17 June 1987) was an English professional footballer who plays as a centre-midfielder for both Wolverhampton Wanderers and Brighton & Hove Albion youth teams.

Groucutt started his youth career at Lewes FC before relocating and joining Wolverhampton Wanderers academy in 1999. He made his youth-team debut for Wolves in 2001 at the age of 14, and was part of the team that celebrated their Centenary year as a football club.

After leaving Wolverhampton Wanderers in 2003, Groucutt moved to Brighton for trials as part of the youth set up under Steve Coppell, and was named in the PFA Youth Team of the Year.

2003–2004: Depletion in playing opportunities and Lewes FC loan [edit]

edit

In the following season, Groucutt's playing opportunities became more restricted in the Youth and Reserve Set up; as he fell behind the likes of more experienced names playing following a strengthening in the First Team and attempt at a push for promotion from the second division, thus falling down the pecking order at Brighton.

2004: Released From Club

Groucutt was subsequently released following limited playing opportunities and a general overhaul at the club, but continued to play in lower division FA Accredited teams.
