About me
editI am a native English speaker, was born and raised in Ohio, attended college in Illinois (an English major), have spent my adult life in New York a little north of the city.
I am somewhat compulsive about correcting typos and grammar, usually do it for my own writing elsewhere (where I shamelessly and obsessively revise), but Wikipedia has become such an important first stop for sourced information for me, it only seems right I help out while trying not to cause too much trouble here.
Over the years I have also done some editing anonymously, particularly on the French version of Wiktionary (Wiktionnaire) and without a single reversal, but that's a whole 'nother story.
I have absolutely no interest in controversy, chatting, or ascension to anything resembling a leadership role.
I only edit if I see something (minor) which is obviously wrong and I can fix it.
If somebody feels strongly about putting it back the way it was, that is fine by me.
Plus if somebody finds my own error and corrects it, I am very grateful and thank them in advance, especially if they don't bother telling me about it.
However, I noticed the Wikipedia article for the hamlet in which I have owned a business for 37 years needed some tweaking, so I have been doing a little more than basic spell checking for Sugar Loaf, New York.[1]
In the highly unlikely event that somebody ever does stupidly ask me to edit for pay, I will rail at the thought, and they will have to prove to me beyond a shadow of a doubt that doing so will only improve Wikipedia according to community stated goals, and should they prevail I will post a notice here telling all ya's to get screwed, take the money, and run.
That is just human nature.
Otherwise, I will be working on submitting an article about my wife's career which is significantly more notable than my own, but even then I will maintain a posture which is 100% compliant with the Wikimedia Foundation Terms of Use.[2]
