Dr. Akintoye Akindele, DBA is an investor, entrepreneur and philanthropist of Nigerian descent. A former chemical engineer and banking professional, he is the founding partner of Synergy Capital Managers, a leading mid-cap focused Private Equity firm with over $300m of assets under management. He co-founded Synergy Capital in 2007 and since grown into a top quartile fund manager across the African continent.

Akintoye Akindele started and completed his tertiary education in Nigeria, obtaining a BSc. in Chemical engineering with honors from the Obafemi Awolowo University. He is a CFA charter holder and a trustee of the CFA society of Nigeria. He is also an alumnus of the London and Said Business Schools having attended various executive programs including the Senior executive program in Management and Strategy, Advanced Corporate Finance, Private Equity amongst others. He is also an alumnus of the International School Management with a Doctorate Degree in Business Administration. He has been a guest speaker at various seminars at leading business schools, including Harvard and Chicago Booth, on investing in Africa, private equity in Africa and the role of entrepreneurship in Africa’s evolution.

Over his career he has raised, advised and/or invested over $5bn of investment capital, into over 40 opportunities, across 4 continents and has returned in excess of 200% to his investors.

Akindele has built his success on the values of Capacity, Accountability and Loyalty. He remains passionate about mentorship, development and growth of the African entrepreneur.

He is married to Tolu Akindele, CFA who runs Platform Capital an investment and advisory firm backed by their family foundation. They have 2 children and reside in Lagos, Nigeria.
