Village Overview

Baogu Village is located in the northeast of Yacheng District, Sanya City, under the historically and culturally renowned Yacheng Town. It is approximately 10km from the Yacheng urban area and the high-speed rail station, about 55km from downtown Sanya, 16km from the Nanshan scenic area, and about 40km from Phoenix Airport. Baogu Village covers an area of approximately 8010 mu, governing 13 natural villages, with a total of 786 households and a population of 3782 as of the end of 2023. Surrounded by mountains on three sides, the Ningyuan River runs through the middle, with the Dalong and Baogu reservoirs to the north and east, the latter being a major source of agricultural irrigation for the region.

Industry Overview

For a long time, Baogu Village's economy has been dominated by primary agricultural cultivation. Apart from rice and off-season vegetables during winter and spring, the main economic crops are mangoes and areca nuts, with less than 1 mu of arable land per capita. Livestock primarily consists of local chickens, black pigs, and goats, mainly raised by individual households in small scales.

In recent years, Baogu Village has been exploring specialty industries such as water lilies, fruit wines, coconut carving, and photovoltaics, establishing the Xiangshui Lotus Flower Villagers' Cooperative. Recently, Baogu Village supplies 1000 water lily flowers daily to Nanshan Scenic Area. Additionally, it has explored the processing of lotus spices, cosmetics, and lotus tea production. From 2020 to 2022, the water lily industry distributed dividends of 145,400, 240,500, and 258,800 yuan respectively, increasing the income of disadvantaged groups and the village collective.
